SMAP Block Pattern Data Entry Form Availability
As part of GLOBE's partnership with NASA's Soil Moisture Active Passive (SMAP) Mission, SMAP science team members worked with GLOBE to develop an additional sampling pattern for taking frequent surface soil moisture data and have included in the protocol the periodic measurement of sample volume.
While this protocol has been available on the GLOBE website for some time, the data entry page for these data will be available on Friday, 16 May. Read more>

Nominations are starting to come in for the new GLOBE Working Groups in Science, Education, Evaluation, Technology, and Communication. Due date is 24 May. Get involved in shaping the future of The GLOBE Program and supporting the development and implementation of GLOBE worldwide by applying to join this new effort. Read more>
2014 GLOBE Learning Expedition (GLE) and Annual Partner Meeting
The event in New Delhi, 3-8 August, is less than 12 weeks away. Now is the time for you to:
--Register and start making your travel plans;
--Book your hotel from the housing options on our registration site;
--Obtain your passport, visa and any vaccinations you may need.
All information about the GLE, the registration link, travel and medical advice, and several interesting post-GLOBE tour options can be found on the GLOBE 2014 GLE webpage. We hope you will join the GLOBE community in New Delhi this August.

NASA's Know Your Earth Quiz
How much do you know about your planet? NASA is releasing a monthly NASA Earth Science Quiz. The quizzes will highlight the five 2014 NASA Earth Science Missions as they are launched throughout this year. These are great tools for teachers. Look for the monthly Quiz on the GLOBE Facebook page, or see the archive of past quizzes here.
Deadline 17 May: Join the NASA GPM Master Teacher Cohort for the 2014-2015 School Year
NASA's Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) mission is looking for a small cadre of "GPM Master Teachers" to help develop and pilot STEM lessons to be used with elementary, middle, and high school audiences. The deadline to apply is Saturday, 17 May 2014. Teachers from the United States as well as international teachers are welcome to apply. Read more

The annual SATELLITES Conference was held 10 April 2014 at Penta Career Center in Perrysburg, Ohio. More than 40 student research projects were presented. To see a list of the winning projects and pictures from the event, click here.
Mai Lor (on right in photo above), 7th grader from Roswell Kent Middle School, earned a Superior rating, the highest rating possible at the State Finals at Ohio State University for her GLOBE research project: Surface Temperature Between Short-Grass, Asphalt and Dirt: A Study on the Effects of Albedo.
