NSTA National Conference on Science Education, 10-13 March in San Francisco

1/13/11 12:00 MDT - The National Science Teachers Association ( NSTA) has been bringing science teachers together at their annual conferences for more than 50 years. Open to member and nonmember science educators, NSTA conferences offer the latest in science content, teaching strategy, and research to enhance and expand professional growth for teachers of science. The majority of participants come from the United States, but in recent years, more participants from other countries have been attending and NSTA is hosting more programs geared toward international participants.

This year the (NSTA) National Conference on Science Education will take place 10-13 March in San Francisco, California.

U.S. GLOBE Partner Meeting at NSTA

1/13/11 16:0 MDT - The U.S. GLOBE Partner Meeting will take place at the NSTA National Conference on Wednesday, 9 March 2011, the day before NSTA begins. Partners are requested to contribute to the meeting agenda. Those who have not yet sent their ideas are asked to do so now, as the final agenda will be finalized over the next few weeks. Partners who would like to share GLOBE implementation strategies should let the meeting organizers know of their interest in presenting, along with the title of their presentation, in an email to help@globe.gov.

More information will be available in the weeks ahead regarding the final agenda, meeting room location and other important logistics.

Community Spotlight: Dr. Edward Geary

1/05/2011 10:00 MDT - Dr. Edward Geary will leave GLOBE on 14 January 2011 to take up his new post as Program Director, Division for Research on Learning in Formal and Informal Settings, at the U.S. National Science Foundation in Arlington, Virginia. When Dr. Geary first took the helm as Director of the GLOBE Program in 2005, he had already earned accolades as a distinguished research scientist and educator. Community Spotlight: Lynne Hehr

01/01/2012 12:00 MDT - Lynne Harris Hehr is the new North America representative on the GLOBE International Advisory Committee (GIAC). She succeeds Ms. Marsha Willis of Austin, Texas, USA, who has served in this capacity for the past 2 years (2010-2011). Ms. Hehr has been involved with GLOBE since its very beginning. In 1994, as a research geologist summer intern working at the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, Ms. Hehr was recruited to work with the GLOBE program. This ultimately led to her being one of two science trainers at the very first GLOBE workshop in Norman, Oklahoma. Her background in soils research and environmental science professional development made her ideally suited to the task of teaching GLOBE protocols to teachers.
