12/15/2011 14:00 MST - On 6 December 2011, Marcy Seavey, Program Director of the Iowa Academy of Science (IAS) and Coordinator for the IAS GLOBE Partnership, moderated an online webinar to give GLOBE students, teachers and scientists an opportunity to meet online to share their SCRC research. The webinar is now available for viewing on the GLOBE website.
The webinar was part of IMPACT (IMPacting Achievement through Collaborations and Technology), a Title II MSP grant-funded yearlong professional development opportunity for Iowa K-12 educators. IMPACT teachers complete a two-week institute over the summer and follow-up activities throughout an entire school year. During the summer, the participants are engaged in authentic science experiences through the GLOBE Program and STORM weather forecasting activities. The teachers also participate in technology sessions taught by University of Northern Iowa technology education specialists with the goal of using technology to effectively collect, store, organize, analyze and communicate about their data and conclusions. Participants become GLOBE certified teachers and are trained in at least three GLOBE Protocols.
