This year, I will be teaching 4th grade science in Canton City Schools, Ohio.  My plan is to start the science year with an authentic learning experience: the solar eclipse.  We will do pre and post activities along with viewing the eclipse. This is an amazing opportunity to start the year with a jolt of excitement and positivity for learning.  These students have so little and to be able to experience a real science phenomenon in their own school yard and community will be something that they will not soon forget.

2017-18 I will be teaching three 4th grade classes all science all day I am anticipation fun hands on learning. I am in a
Climate Change program with NOAA, so that will be the start of the year topic. It would be more exciting to add the
Solar Eclipse to that program. Now that we have implemented NGSS with all types of phenomenon students will be
be able to expand on their knowledge .
