This study took place from 25th Sept to 24th October 2023 and again on the same dates in 2024. In 2024 we extended this study in two areas. We placed Nitrogen Dioxide diffusion tubes in three (rather than two) locations around the school and we conducted more detailed surveys. The tubes were placed on the main road secondary school drop off, the quieter road national school drop off and the woodland recreation area. We conducted several surveys as listed below: The numbers of cars passing or parking by our school Whether cars are petrol, diesel or electric. Idling time for the school buses. How students travelled to school and where they were dropped off at school. We also sent emails to Caroline Casey, Cork County Council asking about a new traffic plan, implemented a new traffic plan over a two-day course and asked students views on the new plan. We relayed our results to the parent's council and student council. We ran a publicity campaign to encourage car and bus drivers to switch off their engines while waiting. Over the last 3 years being involved with Globe, students from our school have helped to plant 100 native trees in our locality
