Donje Međimurje is an alluvial valley in which, on the Drava alluvium, there are different types of soil. Living communities of different forests are present in this area. At the end of winter, harbingers of spring grow spontaneously in the ground layer of the forest. In this paper, the presence of spring plants in selected locations was investigated with regard to the pH of the soil. Soil samples were taken from the field to the school laboratory, where soil pH was determined according to GLOBE protocols. The results of the research show that there are slightly acidic, neutral and alkaline soils in the forest communities in the area of Prelog. Kozlac and visibaba tolerate the greatest fluctuations in the pH value of the soil.
