We applied this research to answer these questions:
1-How effective is lentil water as a liquid fertilizer on plant growth?
2-How is the NPK rate affected when using lentil water as liquid fertilizer?
3-How are soil properties affected when using lentil water as liquid fertilizer?
This research was applied in Oman(Ibra)in the North Eastern Governorate to find a natural organic fertilizer available in our homes by recycling cooking waste, which is the water resulting from soaking lentils, and studying its effect as a liquid fertilizer on plant growth. We planted tomato plants in two vessels, all two vessels were irrigated with the same amount and type of water, same number of tomato seeds were planted, same amount and type of soil was added, same amount of light was received except that one of them was added to it lentils water as a liquid fertilizer and the other was not added to it this fertilizer and compared thier growth by applying the land cover protocol.
We sent two samples(water- lentil water)to the College of Agriculture and Marine Sciences to measure the concentration of major mineral elements for plant growth(potassium, nitrogen, and phosphorus)
We also made a comparison between the soil samples taken from agricultural land, one of them contains lentil water and the other is free from this fertilizer and compared the properties of the two samples by applying soil protocol(acidity, conductivity and soil consistence)
The results showed the use of lentils as liquid fertilizer has a positive effect on the growth of the plant and the rate of growth of the tomato plant that we added lentil water for it(3.5)cm,the stem is thicker and its leaves are more green compared to the rate of growth in the soil -free from the fertilizer(2)cm.
Lentil water(K: 310,F: 59,N: 36.8 mg/L)is considered rich in the major elements necessary for plant growth compared to water(K: 8,P: 10.8,N: 5.7 mg/L)which lacks these elements.
We found that the electrical conductivity of soil fertilized with lentil water(16.4 ms)is lower than that of other soils(20.7)and its pH (7.5)is higher than that of pure soil(6.5).The soil also became firm with this fertilizer.
Based on the research results, the researchers recommend the possibility of using lentils as an organic fertilizer instead of using chemical fertilizers, because it has a positive effect on plant growth by increased length,The stem of the plant is thick , green leaves and rich in potassium, phosphorus and nitrogen ,which is the major elements of plant growth(grade chemistry book 10)and reduces Soil salinity and acid and make it firm. These conclusions led us to further investigate the effect of this fertilizer on beneficial bacteria in the soil in other research.
