We are very excited to announce that on 19 November, two teams that responded to the NASA Space Apps GLOBE Protocol Games challenge were nominated as Global Finalists: EcoNet from Nashik, India, and EcoRangers from Mymensingh, Bangladesh!! Congratulations to both teams for developing informative games in response to the challenge. We also are happy to report that another team, Quasar from Lambayeque, Peru, received an Honorable Mention.  >>

NASA will be soliciting proposals to develop new GLOBE measurement protocols and modify existing protocols! You can comment on the language of the solicitation; comments should be submitted by 31 December 2024.  >>

On 7 November Peder Nelson, GLOBE Land Cover Science Lead, led a discussion on exploring the past 30 years of GLOBE data and connecting it to present observations, including strategies to address common challenges encountered in creating a data time series from local data. GLOBE Mission Earth invites educators, citizen scientists, and students all over the world to participate in the Urban Heat Island Intensive Observation Period (UHI-IOP) throughout December.  >>

The 2024 North American Regional Meeting (NARM) was held virtually over three days, 15–17 October, for three hours each day. Amy Chen, the GLOBE program officer at NASA, and GLOBE Implementation Office leadership opened the meeting with welcomes, highlights, and updates on GLOBE activities. Over the three days, 91 people attended, making it the most well-attended virtual NARM in the GLOBE Program’s history. Forty-eight people attended all three days. Learn more.  >>

Another successful Fall 2024 Student Field Days at Earth Heart Farms has just concluded! Between 3 October and 17 October, over 350 students from Northwest Ohio K-12 schools visited, experienced nature firsthand, and enjoyed perfect weather for explorations. GLOBE Mission EARTH staff instructed students on collecting GLOBE data using Atmosphere, Hydrosphere, Biosphere and Pedosphere protocols. Local conservation professionals served as volunteers in helping students investigate flora and fauna.  >>
