NASA Invites You to Become a Citizen Scientist during Solar Eclipse in the United States
NASA invites solar eclipse (21 August) viewers around the country to participate in a nationwide science experiment by collecting cloud and air temperature data and reporting it via their phones. "No matter where you are in North America, whether it's cloudy, clear, or rainy, NASA wants as many people as possible to help with this citizen science project," said Kristen Weaver, deputy coordinator for the project. "We want to inspire a million eclipse viewers to become eclipse scientists."
It's easy to participate - just download the GLOBE Observer app and register to become a citizen scientist. (After you log in, the app explains how to make eclipse observations.)

GLOBE U.S. Partners: Five-Day Intensive Train-the-Trainer Bootcamp will be Held in New Orleans 06-10 November - Application Deadline 15 September
A five-day GLOBE Train-the-Trainer (TTT) Bootcamp will be held for U.S. partners in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA, from 06-10 November. The focus will be on implementing GLOBE within highly diverse communities or within schools and informal learning programs that serve traditionally underserved and underrepresented populations in STEM disciplines, including women, minorities, and persons with disabilities.

46th Annual NAAEE Conference (San Juan, Puerto Rico, 18-21 October) Offers Full-Day GLOBE/Eco-schools Workshop - Register for Conference and Workshop Today!
The 46th Annual North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE) Conference will be held in San Juan, Puerto Rico, USA, from 18-21 October 2017.
On 18 October, a full-day workshop "The GLOBE Program and Eco-Schools: Science and Sustainability in School Gardens" will be offered. During this interactive hands-on workshop, participants will learn about GLOBE science, Eco-Schools sustainability, and NASA resources. Participants will conduct GLOBE field investigations through an exploration of a local Eco-School's schoolyard habitat and develop an implementation action plan.

New GLOBE Community Blog "School-to-School Collaboration" Shares the Importance of Collaborative Endeavors

NASA STEM Educator Webinars
The NASA STEM Educator Professional Development Collaborative (EPDC) is presenting a series of webinars open to all educators. All pre-service, K-12, and informal educators, as well as university faculty, are invited to join NASA education specialists to learn about NASA missions, activities, lesson plans, educator guides, and online resources that integrate NASA and STEM into the classroom.
An upcoming webinar, "Exploring Beyond the Planets: NASA and Star Wars - The Connections Are Strong in This One," is geared toward educators in grades K-12. On Wednesday, 23 August (4:00 p.m. ET) the NASA EPDC is providing a one-hour webinar. Are Planets Like Those in "Star Wars: Rogue One" really out there? NASA plans to find out. Participants will explore the exoplanets and search for habitable worlds in this lesson plan focusing on sequencing, comparing, and contrasting.

(In order to enter GLOBE data, GLOBE users must complete the necessary training either by attending a GLOBE workshop or by completing the required online eTraining modules. Once your training is complete, you will be ready to start entering your measurements and will be joining a community of thousands teachers around the world!)
