GLOBE’s Vast Resources for Research and NASA Space Challenges
Event Time: 8:00 pm UTC - 9:00 pm UTC
Location: Online
GLOBE is a NASA science and education program that is
celebrating its 30th anniversary on Earth Day 2025. The program
provides a wide array of educational resources, science protocols, and
community events where people from around the world participate in
scientist-led data collection field campaigns and intensive
observation periods. In addition to the web-based materials, there is
the GLOBE Observer (GO) app that can be installed on mobile devices.
The GLOBE database has over 260 million data observations covering
Earth system spheres—atmosphere, pedosphere, hydrosphere, and
biosphere. These datasets are available through the website (globe.gov).
As part of the NASA Space
Apps Collective Genius Summit, this session will give an
overview of GLOBE, the resources available on the GLOBE website, the
database, and the GLOBE Observer app. Participants will get hands-on
experience in searching, visualizing, and downloading the data. We will
discuss how the data could be used for research and space challenges.
Before joining the session, please install the GLOBE Observer app on
your mobile device. It is available on Google Play and Apple Store.
This session will be presented by Becky Boger, the GLOBE Implementation Office's director of Science and Training, Education, and Public Engagement.
Although registration to attend has closed, video session recordings will be published on the NASA Space Apps YouTube channel shortly after the event.
