Last Day (17 May) for the 2022 “STEM for All Video Showcase” – View, Discuss, Vote! (Check Out GLOBE’s Entries!)
The 2022 National Science Foundation (NSF) “STEM for All Video Showcase” will take place from 10-17 May. Thousands of researchers, educators, higher education faculty, and parents take part in this free, NSF-funded event – and submit videos depicting innovative, federally funded projects aimed at improving Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education.
The GLOBE Implementation Office (GIO), and many GLOBE partners, submit videos to the annual Video Showcase. This year, GIO’s entry consists of an introduction to the GLOBE Student Vloggers. Please see the below for the list of videos featuring GLOBE in this year in the showcase.
- "Science Education in the New Normal: Role of Citizen Science
," about the the STEM Enhancement in the Earth Sciences: Earth System Explorers, an in-depth, team-based summer research internship in a virtual setting. Now in its third year, the project has each student collecting environmental data using the GLOBE Observer citizen science mobile app, and exploring team data using open cloud based data analysis platforms. - "Meet The GLOBE Program's GLOBE Student Vloggers ," about a group of middle and high school students from around the world selected through a competitive review process to work with GLOBE’s social media and communications leads over the course of one year to share content for the GLOBE YouTube channel on a variety of topics.
- "Engaging the Public in S.T.E.A.M. with Landsat ," which highlights how public science has been transformed through 50 years of Earth observations with the Landsat satellites that started in the summer of 1972. The video shares how you can connect this unique data through citizen science (including the GLOBE Observer mobile app), education activities, and community participation in the science of mapping, measuring, and monitoring our home planet.
- "Earth SySTEM: Using Satellites to Monitor the Earth ," part of the GLOBE Mission Earth Project, which fuses GLOBE with NASA assets to build systematic innovation in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), the A3Sat project allows students to build an active model mirroring many aspects of an authentic CubeSat design engineers use for launch into space.
