YLACES Awards a YES Medal to GLOBE’s Dr. Elena Sparrow
Youth Learning as Citizen Environmental Scientists (YLACES) awards a Youth Environmental Science (YES) Medal annually in “recognition of a significant contribution to youth learning as citizen environmental scientists.”
This year’s awardee is
GLOBE’s Elena Sparrow of the University of Alaska! Dr. Sparrow
has significantly contributed to student environmental research in
Arctic ecosystems and has strengthened the GLOBE Program in Alaska and
throughout the world. Congratulations to Dr. Sparrow!
YLACES will celebrate their 10-year anniversary in December. In these 10 years, YLACES has supported thousands of students and educators - in 36 countries on five continents - with equipment and student research symposia awards.
To celebrate their anniversary, YLACES will host an event in Washington, D.C. on 10 December. Dr. Elena Sparrow will be presented with the YES Medal at the anniversary event. If you are interested in attending the celebration in D.C., please contact Lee Coydendall at lee@ylaces.org.
