GLOBE Director Dr. Andy Tasker Passes Away
Jan 17, 2012
It is with tremendous sadness and a heavy heart that the GLOBE Program announces the passing of its Director, Dr. Andy Tasker.
Tasker, 60, died 16 January 2012 in the United Kingdom after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife, Linda Lockhart, and sons Paul and Stephen.
"The GLOBE Program community has lost a true visionary," said Dr. Jack Fellows, Director of University Corporation for Atmospheric Research Community Programs and Interim Director of GLOBE. "Andy cared so deeply for GLOBE. He left an indelible mark on where it is headed. Our primary goal is to ensure his vision for the Program is carried out." Fellows noted.
The Tasker family will hold a celebration of life ceremony in the United Kingdom in the coming days. The GLOBE Program will update the community of details as they become available.
The Tasker family has provided two opportunities to make donations in Andy's honor. You can make a donation to further the vision, mission and values of the GLOBE Program, or to cancer research. Both donations may be made via the GLOBE Center.
