GLOBE Learning Expedition (GLE) and 18th Annual Partner Meeting Update
Plans continue for the GLE and Annual Partner Meeting taking place in New Delhi, India in August 2014.
GLOBE Director Dr. Tony Murphy recently completed a site visit to Delhi while attending the Asia and Pacific Regional Meeting on 18-21 February. The GLE Organizing Committee met to recommend a theme and 4 strands. Read more here.
Successful Launch of the Global Precipitation Measurement Satellite
The Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) Core Observatory, a joint Earth-observing mission between NASA and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), thundered into space on 28 February from its launch pad at Tanegashima Space Center in Japan. Staff of the GLOBE Program Office (shown above) watched the launch live while sampling activities from the NASA Launch Party Toolkit provided free to teachers in order to help students connect to the mission. Earth Day 2014
Every year on April 22, over a billion people in 190 countries take action for Earth Day. GLOBE students plant trees, clean up their communities, contact their elected officials, and more—all on behalf of the environment.
Plans for The GLOBE Program were announced on Earth Day 1994 in Washington D.C. and one year later, on Earth Day 1995, The GLOBE Program officially began operations. It's understandable why Earth Day is such an important day for the GLOBE community. Read more›

EECapacity Project - Bringing New Voices, Ideas and Innovation to Environmental Education
The 2014 Community Climate Change Fellowship Program is a pilot initiative sponsored by EECapacity, with generous support from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). It is open to educators who want to address climate change issues in their communities through innovative education and engagement strategies. Fellows will meet their colleagues at a five-day professional development workshop, take part in special webinars, and attend the 2014 NAAEE International Conference in Ottawa, Canada. Learning opportunities during the fellowship will focus on leadership, fundraising, evaluation, climate change, community engagement, and more. Read more about this opportunity here.
American Meteorological Workshop (AMS) Summer Workshop for K-12 Teachers of Oceanographic Topics
6-18 July 2014 at the United States Naval Academy, Annapolis, Maryland
