The Student Experience at the 2024 GLOBE Annual Meeting

The 2024 GLOBE Annual Meeting Student Experience brought together 39 students from 10 countries, representing all six GLOBE regions, for 4 days of experiential learning about Earth systems science and climate resilience at SUNY Fredonia in Western New York, USA.

Students worked collaboratively with peers from around the world to collect data and make observations following GLOBE protocols, including biometry, atmosphere, pedosphere, and hydrosphere. GLOBE community members and scientists engaged students in topics related to climate action and resilience, solutions to mitigate carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, environmental stewardship, and tools for preserving indigenous knowledge systems.

Students engaged in the scientific process as they presented their International Virtual Science Symposium (IVSS) and Student Research Symposia (SRS) research projects during the Annual Meeting opening ceremony poster session, and the closing ceremony featured student presentations of learning from the week.

Twenty-five students also contributed to the GLOBE Community Poem, which six students performed.

Stay tuned as our student vloggers share their vlogs over the coming weeks, which capture their experience at the Annual Meeting.
