GLOBE Stars in the Czech Republic
Over 3,000 children and adults gathered in the Czech Republic to celebrate Earth Day 1998 by taking GLOBE measurements. TEREZA, the non-governmental organization that administers the country's GLOBE Program, organized the celebration in the Prokop Nature Valley of Prague.
Participants took GPS measurements, worked with a LANDSAT Thematic satellite image of Prague, identified clouds, and measured the pH of local water bodies. Children also learned how to identify aquatic life and how to make their own recycled paper.
After the April event, many GLOBE Schools throughout the country returned home and planned similar celebrations in their own towns, sharing GLOBE throughout their communities.
Congratulation to the Czech Republic's GLOBE Program for a wonderful Earth Day celebration.
