International College Edith Stein
Serving as ambassadors for the GLOBE Program, students from International College Edith Stein in The Netherlands recently participated in an international gathering of professionals devoted to the preservation and enhancement of the global water environment. On March 21, the students shared their contributions to monitoring the world's water bodies with participants representing 155 countries at the the World Water Forum in The Hague.
According to The Netherlands Country Coordinator Martin Bosch, the students drew attention to the importance of education about water and the contributions to science of the hands-on GLOBE measurement activities. Dutch students from the International College Edith Stein exhibited their measurement instruments and illustrated the GLOBE hydrology protocols. The students have been monitoring the Court Pond near the Dutch parliamentary buildings for several years and showed pictures of their site and GLOBE graphs of their findings.
In addition, students from Phoenix Country Day School in Paradise Valley, AZ. and Crescent Elk Middle School in Crescent City, CA, created posters about their GLOBE hydrology activities and the importance of water for the environment which were displayed at the conference.
