Forty participants from over 30 secondary schools were trained in the five major protocols: Atmosphere, Hydrology, Soil, Land Cover/Biology and the Earth as a System.  (Some members of CEMASTEA also participated in the GLOBE training.)  Participants at the workshop were instructed on how to use and navigate the GLOBE website as well.

This was the second GLOBE teacher training conducted in Kenya in 17 years.  The last training held there was in 1997, when the country first joined the GLOBE Program.

Charles Mwangi, the Assistant GLOBE Country Coordinator of Kenya, was the principal coordinator of the event.  The lead trainer was Mark Brettenny, Regional GLOBE Director for Africa, assisted by Rogeline Brettenny and Robert Lwikolela (all GLOBE Master Trainers).
