STEM Story: Marjahn Finlayson
Marjahn Finlayson is a Climate Change Specialist and Educator, and former Research Scientist for the Cape Eleuthera Island School in Eleuthera, Bahamas. Finlayson was introduced to The GLOBE Program at the Talcott Mountain Science Center and Academy in 2016 and reacquainted herself with GLOBE in 2021 after joining the Cape Eleuthera Island School. She says, "My mentor and team lead was showing how GLOBE can be implemented in lesson planning for outdoor education. I really took to the cloud lessons."
As a research scientist and educator, GLOBE provided Finlayson with a great platform to show students how data analysis works in many different places. It has helped her work in experiential education and inspired research projects in atmospheric science for analysis.
She continues, stating that GLOBE has provided great ways to teach the scientific method in outdoor education. Finlayson makes sure to utilize all of GLOBE's resources, "Lesson plans and provided resources also helped me reach a larger group of students."
