Two Omani Schools Measure Precipitation and Make Comparisons
GLOBE students from Asmaa Bint Umais School and Souda Umm Al-Muminin School (Oman) monitored and analyzed the amount of rainfall over the course of two days in February 2024. They carried out measurements of the acidity level (pH), and conductivity rate, which reflect the local environmental condition and provides detailed insight into soil and water quality.
In this experiment, it was shown that the amount of rain on Asmaa Bint Umais School (68.58 mm) is greater than that of Sawda Umm Al-Mu’minin School (44 mm), while the hydrogen number (7.8, 7.3) is in Asmaa Bint Umais School and Sawda Umm Al-Mu’minin School, respectively.
These efforts enhance students' roles in building a healthy and sustainable society, demonstrating the strong commitment of The GLOBE Program to developing environmental awareness and encouraging youth to actively participate in environmental protection.
