GLOBE Teams
GLOBE Teams
Having a lot of fun collecting GLOBE data?
Why not create or join a team of citizen scientists who share your enthusiasm?
Inspire your family, club, troop, class, team, or organization’s interest in citizen science by creating a GLOBE team. Anyone can set up a GLOBE team, and the possibilities for collaboration are endless!
When you set up a GLOBE team, you will be able to see how many people are on your team and how many observations the team has made for each GLOBE Observer protocol.
A GLOBE Team is a group of citizen scientists working together as an organization. Teams can be used to set up a competition, coordinate a community’s citizen science efforts, support an educational or corporate initiative, or simply enable a group of people to work together. Teams may include GLOBE schools and GLOBE Observer volunteer scientists. Anyone can form or join a GLOBE team.
Teams can be open or private. Anyone can join an open team. The team manager must invite participants to join a private team.
Every team has a team page on the GLOBE website. To see your team’s page, go to GLOBE Teams, then select “Join a Team.” You can search for your team’s name or scroll through the list. Click on your team’s name.
The team page includes a summary of how many members are on the team, how much data the team has collected, and links to the data collected. Your email address will not be shown on the team page, but it will be visible to the team manager.
Teams for Individuals
A team is a good way for a group of individuals to work together for a common end. You may want to collect data as an extended family to support a student working on a science project or as members of a community concerned about a particular issue such as mosquito habitats or land cover change.
Teams for Informal Educators
The team tool can be used to track engagement or participation in your programs. You will be able to see how many people join the team, and how many use GLOBE Observer to make observations. You can create teams to manage a competition. Teams could be part of a corporate initiative or a volunteer program to foster environmental data collection focused on a particular communities needs. Please contact us if you have questions about teams.
Teams for Schools
Want your students or their families to contribute data measurements to your GLOBE School? You can invite people to join your school team using your school's private referral code.
Login to the GLOBE website and go to your school page. You will see a referral code which you can give to anyone you’d like (only you can see the referral code – it’s hidden from everyone else). Tell students, family or friends to enter the referral code when they first create their GLOBE Observer account….or, if they already have a GLOBE Observer account, tell them to login to GLOBE, navigate to your school page, click the “Join” button and enter your school’s referral code.
From that time on, any data they enter with GLOBE Observer will be added to your school’s measurements!
Teachers can also use GLOBE Student accounts (available on your MyPage) which can be used to login to GLOBE Observer and enter data for your school.
