A GLOBE team is a group of students, teachers, or citizen scientists working together to set up a competition, coordinate a community’s science efforts, support an educational or corporate initiative or simply encourage collaboration. Any GLOBE user or school can form or join a GLOBE team. GLOBE teams are more flexible than schools because students in the same school can create different teams to encourage positive competition. Two or more schools can also join one team to encourage collaboration.

To see your team's page, in the top-left corner, select the "Menu" icon. Select "Go To" and then select "My Organizations." In the drop-down menu, select your team.  

Follow these steps to create a GLOBE team in the GLOBE Observer app:
  • Open the GLOBE Observer app on your device.
  • Tap the gear icon (bottom-right corner) to open settings.
  • Scroll down to the "GLOBE Team" section.
  • Tap “Create a GLOBE Team.”
  • Enter a team name (must be in English and appropriate).
  • Choose your country, and optionally add city and ZIP code.
  • Tap Submit. The app will:
    • Generate a referral code you can share with others.
    • Send you a confirmation email.
Once created, your team will be listed on the GLOBE Teams page and others can join using your referral code.

Teams can either be open or private by the person who creates the team. An open team allows any GLOBE Member to join while a private team requires a referral code from the team manager in order to join.

Every team has a team page on the GLOBE website. To see your team’s page, go to GLOBE Teams and select “Join a Team.” You can search for your team’s name or scroll through the list. 

To invite people to join a private team, the team manager must provide the team’s referral code. The team code is visible only to the team manager. To invite new team members:
  • Sign in to the GLOBE website.
  • At the top left of the site, select the "Menu" icon.
  • Select “Go to.”
  • Select "My Organizations."
  • In the secondary drop-down menu, select "My Organizations."
  • Select your team. The team’s referral code will be included below your team's name. You can send that code to anyone you wish to invite to your team.  

Successful GLOBE Campaigns and Projects usually involve:
  • a detailed description of the proposed Campaign/Project, including a preparation plan, type of data collections, a proposed timeline, target audience, and types of participants;
  • a clear Science and Education Plan;
  • a clear Communications Plan;
  • the involvement of at least three GLOBE schools and one GLOBE country;
  • the use of at least two existing GLOBE protocols; and
  • encouraging collaboration and exchange between and among participants, and encouraging student participants to write up their research for the GLOBE International Virtual Science Symposia (IVSS).

Note: Events and projects proposed with little lead time or within a few days to weeks from the start date may not be considered and may not be advertised on our social media platforms.

All educators who have completed their training will see a student account option on their "My Page." In order to access the "My Page," click on your name (top-right corner), then select "My Page" from the menu. You can set up student accounts directly from this page.

Go to the "Do GLOBE" tab, then "For Students" link, under the left-hand column select "Student Research Reports." There, you will be able to use the tools to upload your report.

If you see something posted that is inappropriate, please report it to GLOBE Support at help@nasaglobe.org. 

To get trained, visit the "Get Trained" page for details on registering and signing up for a workshop. You can access this by clicking on the "Training" tab above.

GLOBE materials can be used across the curriculum. Any classroom, including those for non-STEM subjects such as geography, social studies, language, art and culture, can participate in the GLOBE Program.

The program can help teachers understand and implement the inquiry process with their students. It also provides the opportunity for students to become researchers by working with their peers around the world.

A team is a good way for a group of individuals to work together for a common end.

The GLOBE teams function allows the team organizer to monitor team data collection in a map interface on the GLOBE website and also supports download of team data from the GLOBE database.

In the GLOBE Observer app:
To join a team in the GLOBE Observer app, go to the grey gear icon on the bottom right corner of the welcome screen and scroll down on the next screen to Join a GLOBE team. Your team lead will provide you with a referral code that will admit you to the team. Enter the code.
