2025 U.S. GLOBE Virtual Student Research Symposia

The GLOBE U.S. Coordination Office is excited to announce that registration is open for the 2025 U.S. GLOBE Virtual Student Research Symposium (SRS).

This year, with the cancellation of the in-person SRS, we are offering a virtual SRS for K–12 students in the United States on May 5–9 and May 12–16, from noon to 2:00 p.m. ET each day. Week 1 will be focused on grades 9–12 and week 2 will be focused on grades 5–8. A session for K–4 students will be added depending on interest.

Find more details on the Virtual SRS GLOBE event page, including a sample agenda, and the announcement flyer is available for sharing with administrators and student guardians. For more information on the SRS, check out the SRS website or our SRS YouTube playlist

To participate in the 2025 U.S. GLOBE Virtual SRS:

  • Register for the SRS by Friday, April 4. This year students do not need to register.

  • Attend a virtual orientation on Thursday, April 10 at 7:30 p.m. ET; if you are unavailable to attend live, watch the orientation recording.

  • Work with your students to develop a video recording of their presentation. Presentation guidelines will be provided after you register.

  • There is a limit of three video presentation submissions per educator. Presentations can be made by a single student or by a team of students.

  • Each video presentation should cover only one research project.

Please note that there is no limit on the number of students that can attend the virtual SRS. Feel free to attend as many sessions as you like, but you and your students are only required to attend the day when they are presenting.

Each day will follow a similar model with 30 minutes of engagement activity or career talk, 45 minutes of small group research presentations and 45 minutes of discussing the research projects with a STEM professional in breakout rooms.

To help facilitate student engagement in a virtual environment, all registered educators will receive a student engagement toolkit containing materials for several hands-on activities.

Thank you for your support of the GLOBE Program and for helping to expose students in grades K–12 to careers and opportunities in STEM!
