Below is an overview of GLOBE events and activities open to international participants, specifically those from the Europe and Eurasia region. The list includes events organized locally by countries in the region, events hosted by the Europe and Eurasia Regional Coordination Office, as well as worldwide GLOBE events open to participants from around the GLOBE.

30 Years of GLOBE Campaign: Comparing Data Past and Present continues to September 2025

The purpose of this year-long campaign is to take a deep-dive into the last 30 years of GLOBE data. GIO encourages participants to consider what environmental changes are emerging in their local ecosystems through collecting and analyzing environmental data via GLOBE protocols across all four GLOBE spheres, exploring GLOBE learning activities and utilizing GLOBE databases.

  • Join webinar January 21, 6 pm CET – A brief on the Europe and Eurasia Phenology 2024 Autumn Tree Campaign; we will hear from GLOBE students and educators, from Croatia, Georgia, and Italy, and their campaign research projects.

Showcasing Student Research and Community Impact 

Time for students to showcase the best of their GLOBE work in a presentation or video. Time for students, teachers, coordinators to join in, listen and receive inspiration.

Snow View Intensive Observation Period (IOP)- February

Share your views of snow—or lack of snow—in this February IOP. Learn about snow by observing and photographing it with the Cloud, Tree, and/or Land Cover tools on GLOBE Observer. All you need is a ruler and a camera!

  2025 International Virtual Science Symposium (IVSS) –  projects accepted to March 5

IVSS is an opportunity for GLOBE students to showcase their research to the rest of the community. Projects are judged by prestigious scientists across dozens of GLOBE nations. Students are eligible for stipends and GLOBE badges. This year's theme is "30 Years of GLOBE: Understanding the Past, Present, and Future”.

2025 Spring Phenology Campaign February – May 2025

The Campaign will focuse on spring budburst and green up observations, carbon cycle activities, international collaboration and much more. Registration is open from February.

Urban Heat Island -  Intensive Observation Period Months:   March , October, December

Europe and Eurasia Air Quality student meeting –  April 3, morning time, on-line open to international participants

2025 GLOBE Annual Meeting - July 14-17, 2025, Washington D.C. area, USA

GLOBE  Estonia Learning Expedition August 16-19, 2025, Jõulumäe sports centre, Estonia – GLOBE Estonia -

The expedition will focus on using GLOBE protocols to investigate changes in land cover. Registration opens in February.  open to international participants
