Greetings from NASA and the ICESat-2 Satellite Mission, As you may know, the NASA Ice, Cloud, and land Elevation Satellite-2 (ICESat-2) will launch from the Vandenberg Air Force Base in California on September 15, 2018. ICESat-2 will be a satellite that will use an on-board laser system to measure the height of Earth’s ice, trees, oceans, geographic features, among others. For several days before the launch, the ICESat-2 Outreach Team will be conducting many pre-launch activities, near the launch site, that showcase the ICESat-2 Mission. One of these events, in partnership with the GLOBE Program’s Mission Earth Project and the Palmyra Cove Nature Center's HoloGLOBE Program, is the “ICESat-2 Educator Workshop” to be held: Thursday, September 13, 2018 4:00pm – 5:30pm PDT Dick DeWees Senior Center Lompoc, California* *Note, for those of you not able to be at the workshop in person, we will be doing a Facebook Live during the workshop. More information about this coming soon. This workshop is open to all formal and informal educators at public and private schools, universities, science centers, and museums. The workshop will highlight the ICESat-2 Mission and have hands-on activities including the GLOBE Program’s tree height measurements and the HoloGLOBE Program.
