I just tried to create an event and after completing all the information the system responded with:

Just tested it in the "impersonate user" mode which means i should have the same permissions as you. It seemed to work okay. There is a sample on the Langley page - http://www.globe.gov/web/nasa-langley-research-center/overview which i can delete.

But please try going to your control panel, select CMS Events and see if you can see it or edit it.

One possible issue - there are two NASA Langley Research Centers in the system - one is a school which has additional characters in the name. It's possible if you tried putting up an event from the school page that it wouldn't let you (no events for schools). If possible, navigate to the place you want to post the event from before you go add the event..that way it should put things in the right place automatically.

I went it again, and I think I got it to work. This time I used IE instead of CHROME, but not sure what it was. Thanks!!
