Welcoming New GLOBE Partner St. Vrain Valley School District and its Connection with Ocean Exploration
Introduce your students to the wonders of the deep ocean by following Fabian Cousteau, the grandson of the world famous Jacque Cousteau, and his science team Mission 31, thanks to the newest GLOBE Partner, St. Vrain Valley School District (SVVSD) in Colorado.
What is Mission 31?
A new ocean exploration endeavor, Mission 31, a world record 31-day stay in Aquarius, an underwater scientific research lab located off the Florida Keys, will be led by noted oceanographic explorer and filmmaker Fabien Cousteau. Mission 31 will launch this fall with several exciting scientific objectives including testing new technologies such as autonomous underwater robots, researching the effects of climate change on coral reefs, studying the physiology of long-term submersion and the effects of long-term confinement on brain function.
Mission 31 is an exciting educational opportunity where students can learn about the research and discovery of this groundbreaking mission and have the chance to chat with the aquanauts. Learn more here.
