Dinur Elementary School is located in the city of Holon, near Tel Aviv, 4km from the mediterranean shore. Our ecosystem is urban, with very few and diminishing open spaces. Biodiversity here includes cultivated plants, many of which are non-indigenous species. Local bird populations have also become smaller in recent decades while invasive species are prospering. Still, the city looks green with gardens everywhere and trees and flowers even in the busiest streets. Holon municipality is aware of the importance of environmental health and waste is divided to different materials, towards recycling. Also, there is close supervision on emission from industrial plants. The students in Dinur school learn English as a second language. Their mother tongue is usually Hebrew with some speaking Russian.
