About Europe and Eurasia Region 

GLOBE Europe and Eurasia Regional Office  

The Regional Coordination Office provides support services to GLOBE Program participants across Europe and Eurasia. It serves as a central hub, offering guidance, resources, and coordination to help countries implement and expand their GLOBE activities. 

Our Responsibilities: 

  • Help Desk and Basic Support Services – Providing assistance to community members across the region.
  • Funding Identification – Seeking external funding opportunities.
  • Communication and Resource Sharing – Disseminating GLOBE and GLOBE Implementation Office (GIO) communications, along with regionally-produced materials, to community members. 
  • Country Recruitment Support – Assisting in the recruitment of new countries in collaboration with the GIO. 
  • Event Coordination – Organizing regional student research campaigns and other events, including the Annual Regional Meeting. 
  • Network Development – Building and strengthening connections with the region’s Alumni and Scientist Network. 
  • Record Keeping and Reporting – Maintaining records and submitting evaluation reports as required by the GIO.

GLOBE Europe and Eurasia Board

The GLOBE Europe and Eurasia Board helps define strategic priorities for the region, fosters collaborations, and supports the Regional Coordination Office (RCO) in fulfilling its responsibilities. It also ensures effective communication among Country Coordinators (CCs), the GLOBE Implementation Office (GIO), and other regional stakeholders. Board members are elected during the Regional Meeting (RM), where each country holds one vote in decision-making.

  • European Phenology Campaign – Spring and Autumn offer young scientists a chance to explore seasonal changes of trees. By joining the European Phenology Campaign, students will learn more about the connection between greening-up or greening-down of trees activity and weather conditions, measure tree height, understand trees' role in the carbon cycle and their impact on urban temperature regulation.
