GLOBE South Africa Trains New Teachers

A teacher training workshop was held in South Africa on 21–22 August 2024 in Cofimvaba, Eastern Cape. It was funded by the Department of Science and Innovation, which seeks to boost socio-economic development in South Africa through research and innovation. It was held at the Albertina Nontsikelelo Sisulu Science Centre in the Eastern Cape, South Africa. The workshop, which served rural schools, included 90 participants. Teachers in rural schools faced distance as a challenge to attend this workshop; each had to drive 90 minutes every day, without traffic, to the venue. Despite that, 63 of the 90 participants were teachers. Participating schools received automated weather stations.
