Gambia as a country has a population of about two
million people and it has six regions: Region 1 – Greater Banjul;
Region 2 – West Coast Region; Region 3 – North Bank Region, where the
Globe Country Coordinator is from; Region 4 – Lower River Region;
Region 5 – Central River Region; and Region 6 –Upper River Region.

Gambia have seven different languages (Tribes),
which include Mandinka (the tribe of the country coordinator), Fulla
tribe, Wollof tribe, Sarahuleh tribe, Jola tribe (to which our former
President Yahya Jammeh belongs), Sereere tribe, and Manjajo tribe. Our
joking relationships helps and maintain peace among us.

Each of the regions has a regional Education
Directorate to as decentralized focal body for the headquarter, which
is located in the capital city of Banjul. These Regional Educational
offices are headed by a regional director and are supported by senior
education officers right to the secretaries.

The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education is
headed by the minister at the top management level and the
administrative head is the Permanent Secretary followed by deputies
and directors.
