In early November 2024, we updated the GLOBE Observer Trees tool to provide fields for entering information about a tree’s genus, species, or common name. Why do we now ask you to provide tree type? Knowing the tree’s genus and species helps us understand a tree’s characteristics, its ecological roles, and what it might need to thrive.
