Elida Moreno, GLOBE Paraguay Country Coordinator, Accepted into UNITAR Fellowship
Congratulations to Elida Moreno, country coordinator of GLOBE
Paraguay, for being accepted into the prestigious Global Diplomacy
Initiative (GDI) Fellowship program at the United Nations Institute
for Training and Research (UNITAR). Elida will participate in the
spring 2025 cohort, which runs from 12 March to 27 June 2025.
Elida Alejandra Moreno Genes is an accomplished Paraguayan professional with over a decade of impactful work in education, sustainability, and science diplomacy. Currently pursuing a master’s degree in Government and Public Management, she also holds specializations in Public Policy, Human Talent Management, University Teaching, International Commerce, and Public Administration. Her multidisciplinary background enables her to design and implement innovative programs that empower children, youth, and educators to explore STEAM fields and co-create practical solutions to environmental challenges.
Elida is the coordinator of the Benjamin Franklin Science Corner and country coordinator of the GLOBE Program in Paraguay. As a certified GLOBE Program trainer and GLOBE educator, she has been instrumental in advancing environmental science education across Paraguay and the broader Latin American region.
I am thrilled to share that I have been accepted into the Global Diplomacy Initiative Fellowship —Spring 2025 Cohort! This opportunity not only validates my work but also equips me with advanced training in diplomacy, negotiation, and international relations. Through UNITAR’s cutting-edge program, I will gain the skills necessary to foster strategic partnerships and elevate Paraguay’s competitive edge in science and diplomacy. Ultimately, this fellowship will empower me to drive meaningful change by leveraging science as a tool for diplomacy, ensuring that our educational and sustainable development initiatives continue to benefit our communities and contribute to global progress. — Elida Moreno
Elida also wishes to extend her sincere gratitude to Dr. Rusty Low, Larisa Schelkin from the GLOBE Implementation Office, Dr. Herib Caballero—on behalf of the Board of the Sociedad Científica del Paraguay and the PD Section of the U.S. Embassy in Paraguay—for encouraging her to apply for this scholarship. Special thanks are also due to Raúl Pérez, GLOBE Chile country coordinator and GLOBE mentor trainer, for mentoring her from the day she joined the GLOBE family.

Elida Alejandra Moreno Genes es una destacada profesional paraguaya con más de una década de trabajo incansable en educación, sostenibilidad y diplomacia científica. Actualmente, cursa una maestría en Gobierno y Gerencia Pública, y posee especializaciones en Políticas Públicas, Gestión del Talento Humano, Docencia Universitaria, Comercio Internacional y Administración Pública. Su formación multidisciplinaria le permite diseñar e implementar programas innovadores que empoderan a niños, jóvenes y educadores para explorar áreas STEAM y co-crear soluciones prácticas a los desafíos ambientales.
Elida es la coordinadora del Rincón de las Ciencias Benjamin Franklin y coordinadora nacional del Programa GLOBE en Paraguay. Como instructora certificada del Programa GLOBE y docente GLOBE, ha sido fundamental en el avance de la educación en ciencias ambientales a lo largo de Paraguay y en la región latinoamericana.
¡Estoy encantada de compartir que he sido aceptada en la Cohorte Primavera 2025 de la beca Global Diplomacy Initiative! Esta oportunidad no solo valida mi trabajo, sino que también me proporciona una formación avanzada en diplomacia, negociación y relaciones internacionales. A través del innovador programa de UNITAR, adquiriré las habilidades necesarias para fomentar alianzas estratégicas y potenciar la competitividad de Paraguay en ciencia y diplomacia.
