¡Feliz aniversario, GLOBE!

As part of the 30th anniversary of the GLOBE Program, celebrated on April 22, Ecuador took a key step toward strengthening its participation in the network with the signing of a new cooperation agreement between OIKOS and the University of Tourism Specialties of Ecuador.

Thanks to this agreement, the Program will begin to be
implemented within the Faculty of Environmental Management and
Natural Resources, integrating citizen science and
environmental education into university training. This
institutional milestone was accompanied by Ecuador Country
Coordinator Marco Encalada and Deputy Coordinator Darwin
Hernández, who continue to drive the steady growth of GLOBE
in the country.
This initiative marks a stage of reconnection with the Program
at the university level and reinforces the vision of a more active
and interconnected regional network. In line with this, the
GLOBE LAC Regional Coordination Office (RCO) is
already planning a workshop for university professors and
teachers in Ecuador, to further expand the reach and
institutional partnerships of the Program.
The signing of the agreement also coincided with another important milestone: the 29th anniversary of Ecuador’s participation in the GLOBE Program—making this celebration a double opportunity to recognize the country’s sustained commitment and to renew the enthusiasm for future challenges.
Thank you, Ecuador, for so many years of dedication and for
continuing to champion environmental education!
Happy
anniversary, GLOBE!
