Se realizó la cuarta edición de la Feria de Ciencias Virtual de GLOBE LAC
El martes 25 y miércoles 26 de junio se celebró la cuarta edición de la Feria de Ciencias Virtual, organizada por la Oficina Regional de Latinoamérica y el Caribe de GLOBE LAC a través de la plataforma Zoom.
El evento contó con la participación de 70 personas provenientes de Argentina, Brasil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Paraguay, Perú, República Dominicana y Uruguay. Durante la feria, 18 equipos de cinco países de la región presentaron los proyectos que enviaron al Simposio Internacional de Ciencias de GLOBE 2024 (IVSS).
La dinámica del evento incluyó exposiciones de 10 minutos por equipo, seguidas de un espacio para el intercambio de preguntas y observaciones. Los temas abordados fueron variados e interesantes, incluyendo la caracterización de árboles en parques urbanos, el impacto del fenómeno El Niño en la propagación de enfermedades, el análisis de variables atmosféricas durante eventos naturales, el monitoreo de CO2 en el río Amazonas y los incendios forestales, estudios sobre el cambio climático y su comprensión como un sistema, la salud de la vegetación urbana, la variación de temperaturas y su efecto en la proliferación de mosquitos, y la exploración de ecosistemas ribereños.
Este evento significó un hito en la región, ya que sirvió como una instancia clave para que docentes y alumnos mostraran sus proyectos de investigación y se crearan espacios de intercambio y colaboración.

On Tuesday, June 25 and Wednesday, June 26, the fourth edition of the Virtual Science Fair was held, organized by the GLOBE LAC Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean through the Zoom platform.
The event was attended by 70 people from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Paraguay, Peru, the Dominican Republic, and Uruguay. During the fair, 18 teams from five countries in the region presented the projects they submitted to the GLOBE 2024 International Virtual Science Symposium (IVSS).
The event's dynamics included 10-minute presentations by each team, followed by a space for the exchange of questions and observations. The topics covered were varied and interesting, including the characterization of trees in urban parks, the impact of the El Niño phenomenon on the spread of diseases, the analysis of atmospheric variables during natural events, the monitoring of CO2 in the Amazon River and wildfires, studies on climate change and its understanding as a system, the health of urban vegetation, temperature variation and its effect on mosquito proliferation, and the exploration of river ecosystems.
This event marked a milestone in the region as it served as a key instance for teachers and students to showcase their research projects and create spaces for exchange and collaboration.
