Laura Altin, GLOBE Estonia Country Coordinator, Accepted into UNITAR Fellowship
Congratulations
to Laura Altin, GLOBE Estonia country coordinator, for being accepted
into the Global Diplomacy Initiative (GDI) Fellowship program at the
United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR). Laura
will participate in the spring 2025 cohort, which runs from 12 March
to 27 June 2025.
UNITAR supports governments in implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. To solve complex global challenges, the organization transforms mindsets by offering learning, analytical and capacity-centered solutions for a more sustainable world.
This Fellowship provides participants with a structured and immersive experience in diplomacy, negotiation, and global collaboration. For the GLOBE community, this program represents an opportunity to develop leaders with expertise in both scientific research and diplomatic relations, ensuring that GLOBE’s efforts in observation and education align with key objectives and global cooperation.
I am honored to be part of the GDI Fellowship, which provides a unique platform for engaging in diplomacy, negotiation, and global collaboration. My journey with The GLOBE Program began in 1996, and I have served in various roles, including GLOBE student, alumni, country coordinator, member of the Europe/Eurasia Board, Technology Working Group member, and mentor trainer. As the GLOBE Country Coordinator for Estonia, I am eager to leverage this experience to further connect science and diplomacy, empowering future leaders and advancing global collaboration. Additionally, I aim to contribute to the advancement of science in Estonia by integrating scientific research and diplomatic initiatives. —Laura Altin
