A shareable showing the title of the talk

On 28 February, GLOBE’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Working Group and NASA Goddard’s Earth Science Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) Group presented a talk in celebration of Black History Month, “A Curious Way to Chart the Stars: Afrikan Traditional Insights on Astronomy.”

During the talk, Dr. Imani shared an anecdotal narrative about an encounter between modern Western scientists in Astronomy and elders of the Dogon villages in Africa, suggesting why it is worthwhile to incorporate indigenous systems of knowledge, in this case, Africana, within the processes of traditional scientific inquiry.
