GLOBE Mission EARTH Teacher Abbie Smith hosts Dr. Kevin Czajkowski and has students analyze GLOBE hydrology data
Students at Millcreek-West Unity Local School in West Unity, OH analyzed water from the Maumee River basin for GLOBE, with the help of Dr. Kevin Czajkowski of the University of Toledo and GLOBE Mission EARTH. Their teacher, Mrs. Abbie Smith, a GLOBE Mission EARTH Teacher, collected water from local waterways near their school and had her students conduct chemical analyses of the data. Dr. Czajkowski assisted the students, and helped them and Mrs. Smith in uploading their data to the GLOBE website.

Students involved in tackling water quality issues on the Maumee River in Toledo, Ohio
GLOBE Mission EARTH Teacher Jackie Kane of St. Ursula Academy has her students involved in research to repurpose dredged sediment from the Maumee River!

GLOBE Mission EARTH Teacher Melody Tsapranis of Navarre Elementary has her students investigate water quality and collect GLOBE observations at Sidecut Park in Maumee, Ohio
It was a perfect Fall day on October 10th, 2019 when Melody Tsapranis, GLOBE Mission EARTH Teacher from Navarre Elementary School in Toledo, Ohio, took all of her students to Sidecut Park in Maumee, Ohio to participate in the Student Watershed Watch (SWW). The elementary students collected water quality data including macroinvertebrates analysis and various water quality parameters. GLOBE Mission EARTH Research Assistant Sara Mierzwiak also assisted students in collecting Clouds and Trees data using the GLOBE Observer App. Volunteers from Toledo Jeep assisted in the event as well.

Dr. Kevin Czajkowski's Undergraduate and Graduate Students fly Kites and Aerokats
On October 2nd, 2019, Dr. Kevin Czajkowski took his Undergraduate and Graduate students outside to fly kites!
The students attached Aerokats to the kites to collect atmospheric data for GLOBE. Students learned about the importance of collecting atmospheric data for GLOBE, including air temperature at various heights above the Earth's surface. Students also utilized digital cameras attached to the kites to collect photos from different heights. Students later analyzed and discussed the data back in class.
