UT and Earth Heart Farms educated local teachers and students on environmental issues by visiting the farm in Oak Harbor, Ohio, to study the relationship of farm runoff and algal blooms in Lake Erie.
GME/BWET Professional Development expanded with the addition of the AquaROVER (Remotely Operated Vehicles for Education and Research) materials from the AREN project. Teachers can now take water quality data from offshore areas of water bodies.
UT was part of the team who hosted the 2022 GLOBE North American Regional Meeting at the Toledo Zoo.

Kids Club, an online afterschool program, was held for a second year, engaging over 20 students from grades 3–5 in learning about clouds, budburst and trees.
UT expanded its reach to high school students in the STEM Enhancement in Earth Science (SEES) program by adding a group of seven students studying aerosols to 12 students studying urban heat island effect, and a high school teacher, Janene Smith, to facilitate.
UT worked with Upward Bound students who collected GLOBE water quality data on the Ottawa River and studied urban heat islands on UT’s campus.
GME-UT Staff hosted a tent at the annual Lake Erie Water Festival in Monroe, Mich., where 175 students in grade 6 tested the pond water using GLOBE hydrosphere protocols.
GME-UT staff hosted a tent on Water Quality Day in Delta, Ohio, to teach hundreds of students in grades 5 and 6 how to sample and analyze water from the Delta Reservoir using GLOBE hydrosphere protocols.

UT extends its reach to international students in the GLOBE community. Here are just three currentexamples of their work with students in England, Malta and Thailand.

Ten projects involving 23 students from Aerospace and Natural Science Academy of Toledo, Ohio, and Crestwood High School, Dearborn Heights, Mich., were submitted to IVSS 2022.
As part of the Midwest Earth System Science Collaborative, UT partnered with Dr. Michael Notaro (University of Wisconsin-Madison) and David Bydlowski (Wayne RESA-AREN Project) to host the Midwest Earth System Science Virtual Student Research Symposium (video). Ten schools involving over 78 students presented 24 projects live or virtually.
Three students from Crestwood High School, Dearborn Heights, Mich., were chosen to participate in the virtual 2022 GLOBE Annual Meeting.
