GME-West Partners with Strategic Energy Innovations (SEI)

The GME-West team recently partnered with Strategic Energy Innovations (SEI) through their San Francisco Bay B-WET grant from NOAA. The two-day event trained high school science and social science teachers throughout the Bay Area on watershed management and GLOBE hydrosphere protocols. The hybrid training was held in person for the field event on October 23rd and virtually on November 6th. SEI is an environmental nonprofit that builds leaders to drive sustainability solutions. For over 20 years, SEI has partnered with schools, communities, and businesses to develop a sustainability leadership pathway from elementary school to early career. GME-West partnered with SEI through their B-WET grant as a guest. GME’s field training included hydrosphere water quality protocols such as nitrates, dissolved oxygen, alkalinity, pH using LaMotte test kits. GME’s virtual training included site set up, data entry and data visualization.

GME also provided some virtual data literacy training on data analysis, visualization and storytelling which complemented SEI’s ArcGIS training on mapping data collected from watershed analysis.

GME-West looks forward to deepening this new partnership with SEI on their School Environmental Leadership and Climate Corps programs.
