WestEd/UC Berkeley Partnership Celebrates GLOBE Since 2011
The WestEd/UC Berkeley GLOBE partnership has been supporting educators and students in California, Hawaii, New Mexico, Michigan and Alaska for more than a decade. Nearly 1,000 formal and informal educators and their students have received protocol and data literacy training, informational webinars, conference presentations and skills building opportunities from our team of support providers. Most of this work has come under the Science Activation partnership called GLOBE Mission Earth. This partnership includes science and education expertise from the University of Toledo, Boston University, Tennessee State University and NASA Langley.
The WestEd/UC Berkeley partnership has also supported GLOBE's US and international communities. Our partnership has presented at numerous GLOBE Annual Meetings, and NARMs over the years. These presentations have shared best practices in supporting GLOBE educators and students, introduced data literacy integration into GLOBE analysis, guided educators on SRS and IVSS preparation, initiated a new GLOBE protocol on Microplastics with partners in Italy and Australia and communicated how to form and sustain an Earth system science collaborative (CA Strong). We have also hosted two in-person NARMs for North America and co-coordinated/coordinated SRS events since 2016.
The WestEd/UC Berkeley
GLOBE partnership looks forward to working with
18 K-12 educators this year in Northern and
Southern California, and New Mexico. We will
continue to provide pedagogical support and
practice of GLOBE protocols and activities in
and out of the classrooms. Contact our
partnership leads for more information or
questions.
