Highlights of the 2020 GLOBE Providence Virtual Science Symposium

The 2020 GLOBE Providence Virtual Science Symposium, in conjunction with the Boston University GLOBE Mission EARTH group, featured an impressive range of student groups and projects.

  • Three of the classrooms that submitted were bilingual classrooms (3rd, 4th, and 5th grades at Spaziano),
  • Three of the classrooms were inclusion rooms (2nd, 3rd, and 5th grades at Carnevale),
  • One of the projects was a continuation of that student's project from last year (which he also wants to continue into next year 7th grade at Nathan Bishop),
  • The 3 projects from Michelle Goewey's 11th grade students at Dr. Jorge Alvarez High School directly linked to a well-known community impact topic by looking at the health of a reclaimed local pond,
  • All of the projects were student-centered and inspired the participating students to want to do another project/continue this project next year (per feedback from all of the participating teachers and all of the students we were able to talk with directly).
