Resources to Support Students in Using GLOBE Data to Develop a Research Project
The highlighted badge for the 2025 IVSS is the “I am a Data Scientist” badge, which requires students to access and analyze data from the GLOBE database as part of their IVSS projects. There is still time to develop a research project with data from the GLOBE database! The following resources can support students in developing a research project using GLOBE data to earn the “I am a Data Scientist” Badge:
-
30 Years of GLOBE Campaign Webinar: GLOBE Chronicles of Change Webinar Recording and Resources features examples of GLOBE data, satellite imagery, and other data sources to explore changes in your local community with examples of how to present these data in interactive StoryMaps.
-
NASA Earth Science Education Collaborative Webinar: Discover, Explore, Explain - Resources to Support Student Research webinar recordings showcase examples of GLOBE data and research questions from different GLOBE partners and NASA project scientists, including GLOBE Urban Heat Island, Trees, Clouds, Phenology, GLOBE Mission Mosquito and MyNASA Data.
-
In case you missed it, the Accessing Data from the GLOBE Database webinar recording provides a walkthrough of GLOBE’s Visualization System and Advanced Data Access Tool (ADAT) to support students in accessing and downloading GLOBE data.
For support submitting IVSS projects, the How to Submit an IVSS Project Webinar recording walks through the process of submitting an IVSS project and project resources. Please email ivss@nasaglobe.org with any questions.
