GLOBE Goes to Camp
In 2018 the idea for GLOBE Goes to Camp was initiated as a pilot project under the NASA Earth Science Education Collaborative Science Activation Award. The goal was to establish a network of GLOBE Camps across the United States that were engaged in environmental studies to benefit their local communities. We know that within the setting of informal education, the elements of GLOBE (Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment) can be implemented to the fullest capacity possible. Communities as a whole can engage in investigations that focus on collecting data in the form of observations and measurements to determine how they can work together to make a difference in their local environment. It’s as easy as looking up in the sky and observing a cloud or identifying the macroinvertebrates in your stream.
Through the ideas associated with bringing “Nature to Your Doorstep” we have compiled pacing guides with protocols and learning activities that can be implemented as a learning sequence or simply one piece at a time from the “menu” of options provided.
