WEBINAR | The State of Trees Under Snow
Event Time: 6:00 pm UTC - 6:00 pm UTC
Location: Online
Join us on 11 February 2025 at 1 pm ET (6:00 pm UTC, 19:00 CET)
as we explore the current February 2025
Snow View Intensive Observation Period (IOP) and how you can
share your view of snow—or lack of snow—in your community. Peter
Falcon will first showcase the NASA Eyes on Earth tool to highlight
how you can see what various NASA satellites “see,” focusing on
specific events like current snow and wildfire events. This tour of
the Earth will then bring us to the parts of the Earth where we see
(or don’t see) snow, and why both are equally important.
We will hear from Peder Nelson, GLOBE Observer land cover science lead, as he discusses the importance of the Snow View IOP to understanding climate zones, snow as an indicator of temperature, and what to expect in your community. Peder will also highlight the use of maps and imagery with tools such as Open Altimetry (with ICESat-2) and NASA WorldView (with Terra/Aqua MODIS).
