Ljubljana, Slovenia, Hosts Successful 2024 GLOBE Europe and Eurasia Regional Meeting
This year’s annual GLOBE Europe and Eurasia Regional Meeting provided a vibrant platform for the GLOBE community to connect, exchange ideas, and share experiences.
Taking place from 11 to 15 November 2024, the event brought together over 100 participants from 26 countries, including nations from the Europe and Eurasia region and the United States. Attendees represented a wide array of roles within the program, such as country coordinators, trainers, scientists, teachers, education experts, GLOBE alumni, and US Embassy representatives.
The first 2 days of the meeting focused on the GLOBE country coordinators, who provided updates on the implementation of the GLOBE Program in schools within their respective countries, shared their plans for the current school year, and extended invitations to upcoming activities and events open to GLOBE participants from other countries. Networking for fostering collaborations on future projects was also part of the program.
The latter part
of the week was dedicated to the GLOBE Community Meeting, featuring a
great variety of activities including the science educational GLOBE
Market, training sessions, field workshops, excursions, and visits to
Slovenian GLOBE schools.
The GLOBE Market stood out as a
highlight, offering participants the chance to present the activities
or projects they worked on with students, fostering a rich exchange of
ideas and inspiration. This year, a record number of 27 GLOBE
educators and country coordinators showcased their good practices.
The Regional Meeting gives me the opportunity to find out how GLOBE works in other countries. It is very inspiring to see how coordinators from other countries deal with similar situations that we are facing, what worked well for them, and what priorities they have. It is also a great place to find partners for international projects, such as Erasmus+, both for us and for the participating teachers. It really doesn't matter if you've been at GLOBE for 2 months or 20 years, everyone has the same seat at the round tables and everyone’s ideas are appreciated. The GLOBE community is very energizing and I'm really grateful to be part of it. —GLOBE EE country coordinator
