Apply to be a 2024/2025 GLOBE Student Vlogger!
Calling all GLOBE Students: The GLOBE Program is seeking the next cohort of students to volunteer as GLOBE Student Vloggers (GSVs). This position is competitive. The deadline to apply is Friday, 08 March 2024.
If you would like to learn more, and be inspired by our past and current cohort of vloggers, then check out the episodes on GLOBE's YouTube channel, here.
Those selected for the new cohort of vloggers will create vlog–style video content for the GLOBE YouTube channel, which will be shared across all GLOBE social media platforms. (Vlog-style videos are filmed in part selfie-style, and help to take viewers on a journey into the vloggers world – what they are doing, learning, and discovering.)
Requirements
To apply to be a GSV, you will need to be a current GLOBE student between the ages of 10 and 19 with the ability to effectively communicate in the English language. You will also need to commit to attending monthly training meetings, and create (filming and editing) four vlogs between April 2024 and April 2025 (with additional assignments monthly, such collaboration projects, Instagram Stories and Reels). The monthly training meetings are held each second Friday of the month at 07:00 a.m. PT (08:00 a.m. MT, 10:00 a.m. ET, 02:00 p.m. UTC) to accommodate international time-zones. (Be sure, when applying, to have this time-slot available as attending the meetings is required and a key component of the opportunity.)
This video discusses the importance and impact of the monthly training meetings.
If you are interested in applying, please complete the following three application tasks:
- Fill out and submit the application form
- Sign and email the following permission forms (https://bit.ly/2YpEuJP) to: globe.student.vloggers@gmail.com
- Film, edit and submit (upload here) a short video in vlog-style (no longer than four minutes). This video must be filmed horizontally or in landscape view.
VERY IMPORTANT: In the video, take the time to properly introduce yourself, and answer all of the following questions (please be creative and descriptive; tell a story):
- What is it like where you live (environment, community, etc.)?
- How involved are you in doing GLOBE (either at school or on your own)?
- How does, or how has, The GLOBE Program affected your decision making in regards to our planet's climate?
The video is the main component of your application; you will be rated on your filming and editing abilities, as well as on your story-telling and speaking ability and visual presence. Please: No music or text additions (text overlays, or subtitles); however, please demonstrate your abilities when it comes to transitions, visual inclusions (pop-ups, sliders, etc.), b-roll, and the pacing and flow of your footage. Filming "selfie-style" is more than welcome.
If you have any questions, please send an email to: globe.student.vloggers@gmail.com
