Rick Landenberger - Rick Landenberger

I'm an ecologist with a background in conservation biology, forest resource management, and protected area management. I worked for the US Forest Service for a few years before returning to graduate school at West Virginia University in 1994, and I have been at WVU ever since, now as a 'clinical' (service-oriented) faculty member in the Department of Geology & Geography. I work on various projects, ranging from K-12 STEM education to remote sensing and GIS, to private land stewardship and management. I currently have a long-term contract with the West Virginia Land Trust as their 'Science and Management Specialist', a position that allows me to engage in a variety of interesting and important projects primarily involving protection and management of nature preserves and development of public access (trails and trailhead development). Broadly speaking, I work with various partners across West Virginia to protect, manage, and restore the state's incredibly diverse and productive forests and streams.
