Dr. Felicia Agubata Joins GLOBE GISN: Championing Gender Equity and STEM Excellence

GLOBE proudly welcomes Dr. Felicia Agubata, Deputy General Manager of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Global Diplomacy Fellow at the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and a frequent speaker at the UN General Assembly Science Summit as a new member of the GLOBE International STEM Network (GISN). With an illustrious career in airspace management, Dr. Agubata brings a wealth of experience and a passion for advancing STEM education and gender equity. Her recent paper, “Gender Inequality in Education: Overcoming Barriers to Girls’ Education in Africa,” has been accepted for publication in the UNITAR Special Edition dedicated to Global Diplomacy Fellows. In her paper, Dr. Agubata highlights the systemic challenges faced by girls in accessing education and offers actionable strategies to bridge the gap, fostering a more inclusive and equitable future.

As a trailblazer in both STEM and science diplomacy, Dr. Agubata’s contributions extend beyond her professional achievements. She has been a steadfast advocate for creating opportunities for young women in STEM, mentoring aspiring scientists and engineers across Nigeria and the broader African continent. Her role as Deputy General Manager at NAMA has seen her spearhead initiatives that integrate cutting-edge technology to enhance airspace safety and efficiency, demonstrating her expertise in both practical and theoretical domains of science and technology.

Dr. Marie Korsaga Joins GLOBE GISN: A Trailblazer in Science and Diplomacy

GLOBE is proud to welcome Dr. Marie Korsaga, the first female astrophysicist from Burkina Faso, as the newest member of the GLOBE International STEM Network (GISN). Dr. Korsaga's remarkable achievements in astrophysics and her dedication to global collaboration exemplify the spirit of innovation and inclusivity. As a Global Diplomacy Fellow at the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), she leverages her expertise to bridge science, education, and diplomacy on an international scale. Dr. Korsaga recently contributed to the UNITAR Special Edition dedicated to Global Diplomacy Fellows, titled “Women in STEM and Science Diplomacy: Gender Equality and Human Rights”, where she discussed the critical intersection of science, gender equity, and human rights. Her work reflects her commitment to fostering the next generation of scientists, especially in underrepresented regions, by integrating advanced scientific knowledge with global outreach.
