GLOBE Africa Students Participate in Second Annual December Data Push/Challenge
With all schools closed during December, the number of data
submissions tends to plummet. GLOBE Africa has found a great way to
keep students involved in the program. Students compete to see which
country's students can upload the most data points during the month.
Only manually generated data are considered (e.g., data automatically
generated, like from a weather station, are not allowed). The
challenge began in 2023 with Mauritius uploading the most data points
out of all GLOBE Africa countries.
This year, most data points involved the Atmosphere Protocol, as students collected different sky conditions. The winner of the 2024 challenge is Ghana (congratulations!!) with 551 data points, followed by Madagascar with 329 points. A total of 1,579 manually generated datapoints were submitted during the December holiday.
